VET Winter Workshop

VET research has experienced a boom in recent years, both in Switzerland and internationally. The VET Winter Workshop will take place on 3 February 2023 at SFUVET in Zollikofen and aims to discuss relevant (future) research topics and research questions in VET in an interdisciplinary manner.

The boom in VET research has generated a good deal of knowledge on questions of the VET system, its economic framework conditions and consequences, the pedagogical-psychological processes of vocational learning as well as on questions of access and equal opportunities within VET. VET research is thus characterized by a heterogeneous field with regard to the relevant disciplines, their questions, methods and theories.

The aim of the VET Winter Workshop is to discuss relevant (future) research topics and research questions across disciplines. VET research should foster collaboration and exchange between researchers from different disciplines and build bridges for a transdisciplinary approach to VET issues. An institutionalization of the workshop on a regular annual basis is foreseen to facilitate the strengthening of the contacts between VET researchers in Switzerland but also internationally.

With its broad scope of research regarding disciplines, theory and methodology, its national and international recognition in VET-research, SFUVET is the ideal place for such critical, prospective and transdisciplinary reflection on VET research.

In contrast to the usual meetings in the academic world, such as international conferences, the workshop is not in the first place the occasion to present completed research results, but rather the place for discussion and joint reflection. The presentations will thus be geared towards opening up debate and new avenues of research.

The 2023 Winterworkshop is dedicated to the question “Who dares to criticize the best system in the world?”For further information you may download the detailed description.
