New, individually designable courses

In 2018, the Basic Training Division devoted itself intensively to revising the syllabuses initially introduced back in 2007.

With the revised training concept, future students will be able to design their training individually. One example of this is creating their own personal training project, which serves as a common theme for the entire course of study and culminates with the diploma thesis.

The new courses are based on the situation didactics model and thus place even greater emphasis on real-world training. Future VET scenarios are explicitly included, for example digitalisation, cultural diversity or bilingual instruction. This will make basic training courses at SFIVET both modern and challenging. The revised syllabuses will be introduced in the autumn semester of 2019.

The Basic Training Division has also started to work on measures to improve its organisational structure and administrative processes. ‘As national as possible and as regional as necessary’ is the motto for subsequent development. The objective is to achieve greater efficiency and maintain proximity to SFIVET’s clients.

In order to better distinguish its market position in the German-speaking region of Switzerland, SFIVET signed bilateral cooperation agreements with the Lucerne and St. Gallen Universities of Teacher Education in 2018. This greater level of cooperation is intended to ensure the quality of training and reduce duplication of efforts.
