The Swiss Insurance Training Association (VBV) runs a «Young Insurance Professional» training programme, which is intended to act as a springboard for upper-secondary school graduates. This programme provides them with initial work experience immediately after graduation and opens up the possibility of a career in the Swiss insurance industry without having to do an apprenticeship. The VBV's training programme is open to holders of the general baccalaureate (i.e. the standard qualification required for admission to Swiss cantonal universities and federal institutes of technology) as well as to holders of the Federal VET Diploma who also obtained a federal vocational baccalaureate (i.e. the complementary qualification required for admission to Swiss universities of applied sciences). Our evaluation will mainly be based on an online questionnaire to be filled out by current and former participants in the VBV training programme as well as on in-depth online interviews to be held with VBV insurance professionals. This will allow us to ascertain the level of satisfaction with training, confirm whether programme participants remain in the insurance industry and suggest possible improvements to the training programme. The evaluation results will then be taken into account in the revision process.
