Institutional accreditation is a process carried out every seven years. It aims to evaluate the capacity of Swiss universities to meet the currently applicable national and international requirements in terms of the quality of their teaching, research and services.

During the accreditation process, the compliance of SFUVET’s quality assurance system was verified based on the 18 quality standards set out in the HEdA Accreditation Ordinance. These standards cover five areas:

Quality assurance strategy
Governance
Teaching, research and services
Resources
Internal and external communication

Institutional accreditation is an opportunity for SFUVET to reflect on how it aims to meet the requirements of a university as well as on its short and long-term development.

The process of the institutional accreditation

The accreditation process is made up of two phases. The first phase is self-evaluation, which is the main part of the process, followed by an external evaluation carried out by experts from the Swiss Agency of Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (AAQ). SFUVET’s external evaluation report is available on AAQ’s website and the accreditation decision on the Swiss Accreditation Council’s website.
