SAVOIRSOCIAL commissioned SFIVET to carry out a three-part study on the training and career trajectories of people in the social care field. The aim of this is to gain in-depth knowledge of the educational and career paths as well as the current situation of learners and students, employed persons and former social care workers. The now available third part of the study contains the results of a survey of former social care workers, which was conducted between June and November 2017.

OBS SFIVET and OdASanté presented for the first time at this conference the new results of the career study on health professionals. Persons in charge from companies, politics and education, as well as health professionals discussed the challenges and presented examples of good practice.
What do we know about the causes and consequences of apprenticeship contract terminations? How can we keep this phenomenon to a minimum and save billions of Swiss francs in costs for society as a whole? Today, 200 experts in the VET field met in Bern to discuss these questions at the first national conference of SFIVET’s Swiss Observatory for Vocational Education and Training OBS SFIVET. At the same time, OBS SFIVET released its first trend report on the frequency, causes and consequences of apprenticeship contract terminations.

The Federal Statistical Office (FSO) held a press conference today on successful introduction of two-year programmes for the Federal VET Certificate. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Jürg Schweri and Dr. Irene Kriesi from the Swiss Observatory for Vocational Education and Training (OBS SFIVET) presented their findings from a study on early termination of two-year apprenticeships for the Federal VET Certificate.
Bern, 14 June 2016 – Today, the Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (SFIVET) publically inaugurated the Swiss Observatory for Vocational Education and Training (OBS SFIVET) in Bern. SFIVET's new competence centre will be able to identify and analyse trends and challenges early on and offer solutions to practitioners.
With the Observatory, SFIVET offers a new competence centre dealing with trends and challenges in specific occupational areas and presenting practice-oriented solutions. It aims at contributing innovatively to Switzerland’s forward-looking and efficient management of its vocational education and training system.
