COM SFIVET

In 2018, SFIVET worked intensively on the new study programme to be launched in September 2019: the Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Vocational Education and Training. The study programme will focus on the digital transformation of vocational education and training. Initially offered in German, it is intended for people who want to gain the expertise required to perform demanding tasks at the crossroads between VET and Work 4.0. A BSc in VET graduate will typically guide education and training projects, manage learning processes or facilitate digital transformation processes in larger companies, government agencies or vocational schools.

The BSc in Vocational Education and Training will impart specialist content on the relationship between working life, vocational education and training, the individual human being and society. Considerable emphasis will be placed on encouraging interdisciplinary skills such as self-management, teamwork and conflict management. The study programme also offers real-world training through a combination of in-house project work and external internships. In all of these areas, the focus will be placed on the various opportunities and challenges as well as on the limitations of digitalisation in teaching and working life.

The BSc in Vocational Education and Training is a unique degree programme in Switzerland. During the development phase, SFIVET staff interviewed potential students and employers about their wishes, needs and interests. This feedback was then taken into account in the planning phase to ensure that the Bachelor’s degree programme would precisely satisfy the needs of society and the labour market.
