Evaluation of the comprehensive revision of the federal professional examination for Certified Insurers (VBV/AFA)

In 2021, the professional organisation responsible for the insurance sector, VBV/AFA, intends to fully revise the modular federal professional examination for certified insurers.

In preparation for this, it has commissioned SFIVET’s Evaluation Unit to conduct an evaluation to ensure that this revision process can begin under optimal conditions.

Method

To lay the groundwork for this evaluation, two online workshops were held to ascertain needs and identify relevant evaluation questions. The first workshop was with the professional organisation's quality control committee (QCC) and the second was with insurance professionals involved in the training and examination process. This was done to ensure that key stakeholders would be part of the evaluation at an early stage.

The results of the two workshops were then used to select the data collection design (what data would be gathered, when, how and from whom).

It was decided that data for the evaluation would be gathered using online surveys of current and former participants of the preparatory course as well as through in-depth interviews with other stakeholders.

The evaluation process will conclude with a workshop to present and validate findings.
