The State Secretariat for Migration has awarded SFIVET a mandate to provide guidance and support and to develop a range of instruments during the implementation of the pilot programme. On 18 December 2015, the Federal Council adopted a four-year pilot programme aimed at facilitating the long-term employment of recognised refugees and temporarily admitted persons. The pilot programme includes integration apprenticeships for recognised refugees and temporarily admitted persons as well as language courses for asylum seekers who are likely to remain in Switzerland.

SFIVET will mainly focus on establishing general and bidding conditions enabling professional organisations and the cantons to take part in the pilot programme. Preparatory work on the pilot programme has already begun and will continue until the end of June 2018. The pilot programme itself is expected to run from 2018 to 2021.
