The year 2019 brought much appreciated recognition of SFIVET’s role in international cooperation in vocational education and training: UNESCO’s International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (UNESCO-UNEVOC) accepted SFIVET as a member of the UNEVOC network. SFIVET may now refer to itself as a ‘UNEVOC Centre’. Based in Bonn, UNESCO-UNEVOC coordinates various initiatives taken to promote vocational education and training worldwide.

In 2019, a total of 62 people from around the world attended courses given by SFIVET’s Swiss VET Academy. This included, for example, eleven teachers and managers from the Institute for Technical Education in Singapore, who attended an eight-day training course. The Swiss VET Academy also partnered with the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) to organise the Leadership Training Programme for the second time. This two-week training course in Zurich and Lausanne drew 20 participants from China.

SFIVET launched five new international projects in 2019. During the reporting year, it contributed its expertise to a total of 11 projects and mandates in 11 different countries.

In 2019, SFIVET welcomed 33 foreign delegations, which clearly shows that interest in the Swiss model of dual-track vocational education and training remains high. Official delegates included the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, the Vice-President of Indonesia and the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training of Mali.
