In 2018, SFIVET established the ‘Swiss VET Academy’  to address the needs of interested parties from abroad seeking training opportunities. It offers a total of twelve courses, including four certification courses lasting 90 learning hours each. In June, the ‘Swiss VET Academy’ held the first ‘International VET Consultant’ certification course with 16 participants in Winterthur.

In addition, the ‘Swiss VET Academy’ offers courses that are specially tailored to the needs of clients: In autumn 2018, SFIVET was commissioned by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) to conduct a two-week training programme in Bern and Zurich. The feedback from the 19 participants was extremely positive.

SFIVET secured seven new international projects in 2018, bringing its expertise to a total of 15 projects or mandates in 15 different countries during the reporting year. In Albania, for example, SFIVET developed a train-the-trainers programme and held the course in Albanian. In West Africa, it conducted a study on teacher training on behalf of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

In 2018, SFIVET signed cooperation agreements with Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore and – in the presence of Federal Councillor Johann N. Schneider-Ammann – with the State Secretariat for Technical Education and Vocational Training of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. SFIVET was also able to contribute its expertise during official trips made by EAER and SERI officials to South America, China and India.

SFIVET was actively involved as a strategic partner in the planning of the third International VPET Congress in Winterthur in June. SFIVET staff spoke at the congress, which was held under the motto ‘Skills for Employability and Careers’. They also led workshops on topics such as ‘Focus on Curricula Development in the Framework of the Situation-Based Approach’.
