2018 was a year of digitalisation. SFIVET staff pursued numerous projects devoted to this endeavour, first and foremost the trans:formation programme: Through a series of measures, SFIVET is making a major contribution to the federal government’s funding priority of digitally transforming vocational education and training. The Confederation has provided SFIVET with CHF 3 million in additional funding for each of the years 2019 and 2020 with this specific purpose in mind. SFIVET also focussed on issues surrounding migration and bilingual instruction.

In addition to this, various steps were taken that aim at enabling SFIVET to become accredited as a university of teacher education by 2022. These included, for example, measures to combine research and teaching or projects in the area of corporate social responsibility and of quality and process management.

Other milestones in 2018 were the creation of a new study programme for a Bachelor’s degree in vocational education and training, starting in 2019, and the creation of a new legal basis for SFIVET, the draft of which was submitted for consultation in December 2018. At the end of 2018, Prof. Dr. Cornelia Oertle stepped down as SFIVET Director, a position she had held since 1 February 2015.

This Annual Report provides an overview of the activities that SFIVET pursued in 2018, with emphasis being placed on digitalisation-related projects and services. You can find detailed information about the activities of each of SFIVET’s divisions and sectors here:
