Zollikofen, 8 december 2017 - What the forms and structures of the dual vocational education system look like and who are the main stakeholders can now also be read in English. The hep publishing house has translated its standard work on this subject with the support of the Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training SFIVET.

The Swiss vocational education is known for its good results and its wide acceptance. It owes its success to the close relationship with the working environment and to the practice-oriented training. These strengths are the result of a differentiation of the classic dual system. Thanks to a variety of different forms of vocational education, it has been able for a long time to respond to the various strengths and interests of the students . How it does it – that is described in a first extensive chapter of the book “Swiss Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET)”.

The close relationship with the working environment and the practice-oriented training are also the result of a long-standing collaboration among various stakeholders from government and industry. Further key points of the book are what functions they must assume so that the vocational education can be successful, and how this happens.

«Swiss Vocational and Professional Education and Training » is intended for people who deal with the Swiss vocational education in depth and want to understand how it really works. Therefore, a final section addresses current challenges and future steps of development. The new version in English also enables, in particular, interested parties from other countries to gain an overview of the Swiss vocational education system.
