Open Research Data-Policy of the SFUVET

Research data management at the Swiss Federal University for Vocational Education and Training (SFUVET) adheres to the principles of good scientific practice. SFUVET supports the publication of open research data owned by SFUVET to enhance research transparency, promote comprehensible and reproducible results, and facilitate the reuse of research data.

Principles

  1. SFUVET ensures that the research data collected is as open as possible while maintaining necessary protection in compliance with legal and research ethics requirements, including safeguarding sensitive data.
  2. SFUVET considers the diversity of disciplines and adheres to discipline-specific standards in research data management.
  3. In line with national and international research standards, the FAIR principles (findability, accessibility, interoperability and reusability) are guiding principles for all SFUVET researchers.
  4. Both SFUVET as a university and individual researchers share responsibilities for open research data.

Responsibility of SFUVET

  1. SFUVET supports researchers in managing research data in accordance with the principles formulated above.
  2. To this end, SFUVET promotes cooperation between the relevant organisational units (e.g., IT, Legal Unit) within the university.
  3. SFUVET provides information and advisory services in research data management and open research data.

Responsibility of Researchers

  1. Researchers take responsibility for their research data management throughout the entire data life cycle (from collection to publication and long-term archiving) in accordance with the formulated principles.
  2. Researchers draw up a data management plan for handling research data at the project’s outset and adjust it as necessary throughout the project’s stages.
  3. Researchers undergo an internal research ethics review before project commencement.
  4. Researchers clarify their responsibilities for archiving research data.
  5. Researchers ensure that research data is documented and processed according to the FAIR principles.
  6. Researchers inform their research partners about SFUVET’s Open Research Data-Policy.
